Hans Hofmann and Terry Winters have had a strong influence in my development as a painter. My paintings began with an interest in creating the illusion of depth in an abstract style. My early works used color, line and space to develop depth. After working in this abstract form I began to notice that simple tree branches created this same illusion of depth in space. This led me to the use of tree branches in my paintings. My most recent works including my monoprints have taken the idea of depth and space to a new place by drawing inspiration from microscopic images.
My early paintings were all canvas based using acrylics. My more recent works have been on masonite with a mixture of both oil and acrylic paints.
